Bifold doors have panels that fold and slide to one side of the opening. Easy to open and close, bifold doors are also known as concertina doors or accordion doors. You can install them to the outside of your home or use them as an inside door between your Anglian conservatory and living space. Like French doors or sliding patio doors, external bifold doors are also a great option for terraces or balconies.

Why Choose Bifold Doors?

  1. Enjoy the Warm Days

Open your bifold doors on warm days from Springtime onwards. Bifold doors are great for patios or decks. They make your home feel connected to the outside.

  2. Light and Solar Gain

The light that bifold doors add to any home often makes them a desirable feature. But what is often overlooked is the warmth from the glazing throughout the winter months. Aluminium bifold doors reduce the flow of thermal energy through the frame to keep more heat in.

  3. The Doors Stack Away

Bifold doors are compact and take up little room when folded back. During barbecues or garden parties, you can enjoy having a wider opening than a regular door. This creates more space for your guests.

  4. Aluminium is Best

External bifold doors made from aluminium need very little maintenance. Unlike timber and uPVC, it won't warp due to the weather and is powder coated to last decades. Thanks to its strength, the frames can be thin to provide an unspoilt view of your outdoor space.

  5. Multiple Layouts and Sizes

Bifold doors are custom made and suitable for lots of different home types. Our smallest size is two panels and largest is seven panels. Our largest bi fold doors are up to 6200mm wide and 2400mm high.

Where Are Bifold Doors Best?

Patio or Terrace

Make the most of a terrace, balcony, or paved area with bifold doors that seamlessly connect your indoor and outdoor spaces. Fully open your bifold doors on warm days to enjoy fresh air, unobstructed garden views, or to create the perfect setting for indoor-outdoor entertaining.

Conservatory

Bifold doors can help make your conservatory feel even more connected to your home. With no threshold to step over when they’re open, the transition between rooms and conservatories feels natural and effortless. Ideal for smaller conservatories, panels fold away to one side, taking up minimal space.

Orangeries and Extensions

Bifold doors create a real statement in any room they’re in, so they make perfect sense on your new Extension or Orangery. External bifold doors are probably the most stylish and practical option for connecting your new bright living space with your garden.

    Even Number of Bifold Panels

Bifold doors with two, four, or six panels offers symmetry. Six panels that split in the middle and fold away at both ends is a popular choice over sliding patio doors. If there are four panels, you can add a primary door at one end and fold the other panels to the other end.

    Odd Number of Bifold Panels

A design with three, five, or seven glass panels, one of the bifold doors acts as a traffic door. In some cases it is a good idea to include a primary door to gain easy access without opening the full door.

How Do Bifold Doors Work?

Bifold doors consist of several glass panels, known as ‘leaves’, that slide along a track. When you open bifold doors, the panels slide along this track, folding together like a concertina until they stack neatly against the wall. The stack of panels can sit outside your room, leaving the interior space clear.

Bifold doors can have an even or odd number of panels and often include a primary door that opens in or out. This provides quick access without having to open the full set of bifold doors.

About our Bifold Doors

    $name

    Secure

Our bifold doors have locks at different points along the sliding track. The primary door includes a 3-star cylinder lock. The glass is secure thanks to strong hinges, reinforced glass, and glazing beads on the inside. Our bifold doors also have child safety systems to prevent finger injuries.

    Thermally Efficient

Well-fitted bi fold doors work as well as other doors to keep the cold out and the heat in. A thermal break in the frame helps insulate from the cold and the large panes of glass let the sun's heat warm your home. The insultation in our aluminium bifold door frames improves their energy efficiency.

Our Happy Customers

"Our new bifold doors are fantastic. We can open the house in summer. The house is warmer and more secure. They add something special to our barn. Compared to our old timber doors, the new bifold sliding doors will lower our heating bills. We recommend Anglian and plan to use them again."

Bifold Doors FAQs

Are bifold doors secure?

Bifold doors can be as secure as any other type of external door. Look for features like a multipoint locking system, high-grade locks, robust hinges and toughened glass to help deter intruders.

Do bifold doors add value to a house?

Yes, aluminium bifold doors can potentially increase the value of your home. They’re a highly desirable feature that not only look beautiful but also provide superior functionality by increasing natural light and creating a seamless connection to the garden. This can significantly enhance a property’s appeal.

Do bifold doors make a room cold?

Modern bifold doors use modern glazing and energy-efficient technology to minimise heat loss. Of course, if bifold doors are left open on a cool day, the room would cool down, just like with any open door.

How long do bifold doors last?

High-quality bifold doors can last a long time, usually up to 30 years or longer, depending on the materials and how well they’re maintained. Modern bifold doors are built for durability, offering long-lasting performance with minimal upkeep.

What is the best colour for bifold doors?

For a sleek, modern look, grey or black bifold doors work well and suit a wide range of property styles and interiors. If you want to make more of a statement, consider bolder colours. For a softer, natural look, greens or browns blend beautifully with outdoor spaces.
