Signs You Need to Replace Your Windows

Condensation Between the Panes
If there is condensation between the glass panes, it means the seals on your double glazing have 'blown'. This lets moisture get between the panes, which damages the window over time. It also makes your windows less energy-efficient.

Draughts Around the Frame
Feeling a cold draught from your window is a sign the weather seals have failed. Defective weather seals allow water and draughts to enter your home and heat to escape. Older windows and modern seals are often not compatible, so it’s best to replace the window when your weather seals go.

What to Expect During Installation
When your replacement windows are ready for installation, we’ll arrange a day when you’re at home so we can fit your new windows.
It’s a good idea to make sure the space around windows is as clear as possible and there are no ornaments or clutter around before installation. Our installers will protect the area and carpets with protective sheets while they carry out their work. Once the work is complete they make good around windows before handing over.

Many people ask us about the cost of replacing windows. The answer is simple: window sizes differ between properties in the UK, so there is no set price. There are many factors to think about. That's why we say that having a consultation with our team, either in person or online, is the best way to get an accurate, bespoke quote for your home.
If your double glazing is 20 years old or older, it could be worth replacing. This is especially important if the window is damaged or worn, as this can greatly compromise the energy efficiency and security of your home. Older double glazing also fell under different building regulations, with energy efficiency thresholds being much lower. This means your old double glazing could be far less energy efficient than modern replacement double glazing. By replacing your double glazing, you could save up to 25% on your yearly energy bills.
The lifespan of your windows depends on the material. Well-maintained windows can last for over 20 years. Our white uPVC windows have a BBA accreditation, which means they can last for more than 35 years. Replacement may be necessary sooner if your windows are letting in draughts or their function has been compromised by damage or wear and tear.
If you can, replace all the windows in your home at once. This will make your home more consistently energy efficient and attractive, and increase its value. If that's not possible, replacing all the windows on the front or back of your house is a good alternative. Equally, this is also a more cost effective option, as replacing more windows at the same time can be cheaper than replacing one or two.
You can replace the glass in your windows without changing the frame. If you bought your uPVC casement windows from Anglian within the last 15 years, and you have condensation between the glass (which means your sealed units have blown), we'll replace the glass in the window frame. It's covered by our 15-year sealed unit guarantee. There are companies that replace the glass, which is cheaper than full window replacement, but this is a temporary solution and not cost effective in the long run. You could also run the risk of damaging your existing frames or compromising their effectiveness.
