We only use timber from FSC®-certified and controlled sources. By choosing our timber sliding sash windows, you are supporting responsible management of the world's forests. Our double glazed wooden sash windows have an A rating for energy efficiency, with a U-value of 1.4 or 1.5, depending on your design choices. Wood is a great insulator, so it reduces the transfer of cold or heat through the frame. Our double glazing has low emissivity glass panes. It also has inert argon gas between the panes, to further reduce heat loss.
Our timber sash windows have thick weather seals around each window sash, inside and outside. They also have compression seals between the sashes. When you close the windows, they create a tight seal to prevent drafts and keep heat inside.
Old sash windows had condensation because the glass was cold and single glazed. The excess moisture caused rot and decay. Our new wooden windows reduce condensation by keeping out the cold air. This helps your windows last longer.
We build each timber sash window with strong security features. This includes two rotating locks fitted to the lower sash to keep the window secure. We can also fit lift restrictors to keep the maximum opening to 100mm, allowing ventilation without providing entry to your home.
- Two rotating cam locks in the middle keep the top and bottom sashes lock together.
- Cam locks are key-operated for added security.
- Option for lockable lift restrictors that stop the window at a 100mm opening.
Our wooden sliding sash windows come with industry-leading guarantees, including:
- A 10-year guarantee on the timber sash frames. Not all window companies offer this, so make sure to do your research. The guarantee covers the cost of a partial or complete repair of your windows.
- 10-year guarantee on the sealed glass unit. The guarantee covers a "blow out” - where the glass seal breaks, and condensation appears between the panes.
- 30-year anti-rot and fungal guarantee.
- 10-year guarantee on window furniture, including handles, cam locks and sash pulls.
- 1 to 10-year guarantee on surface finish, depending on the location of window and the finish you choose.

We create double glazed timber sash windows in the UK using traditional methods and new techniques. First, we choose premium-grade timber. Skilled craftspeople then layer the wood in opposite directions to give it strength and durability.
Next, we sand and finish the windows with a protective coating. This coating helps protect the windows from everyday weathering, so they last longer. After we ensure everything has been completed to the highest standards, we send your order to your local team for installation.

Your Questions on Wooden Sash Windows Answered by Us
You can't beat the look and feel or real wood. This makes wooden sash windows a smart investment for your home. They do need more regular maintenance than uPVC, like repainting or resealing. But unlike uPVC, you can always paint them a new colour. With proper care, wooden sliding sash windows can last for decades.
Sash windows made of hardwood with a weather-resistant finish will last decades. Softwood windows usually don't last as long. But this also depends on the finish and wood treatment. To extend the lifespan of your windows, take good care of them.
Many people think of old Georgian houses when they see wooden sash windows. They imagine windows that are single glazed and rattle in the wind. But today, wooden sash windows are double glazed and custom-made. They also have weather seals to keep out draughts and bad weather.
The type of wood that works best for sash windows depends on the window's direction and the local weather. If your windows get a lot of sun or driving rain, consider hardwood for your timber sash windows. If your home doesn't experience harsh weather, you might want to consider softwood. You can talk this through with a professional before going ahead.
The price of wooden double glazed sash windows varies based on their size, type of wood, and how they open. Hardwoods are usually pricier than softwoods, but there are some exceptions. You can expect to pay more for larger windows.
Yes, you can have wooden double glazed sash windows. This combines the energy efficiency of double glazing with the traditional and elegant style of a wooden sash window.
